Project Manager
6+ month contract (good possibility of extension OR going perm)
Oakbrook, IL

Reporting to the Manager, Program Management Office, and the Project Manager II role will provide project management leadership to critical initiatives within the organization. A strong technical project management background, including broad experience with diverse software development methodologies including Agile, is preferred. Experience working within a technology company is required.

The Project Manager will drive the on-time, in-scope, and on-budget execution of multiple projects. This individual must be able to build out new projects still in the forming stage, handle a number of simultaneous projects and tasks, and must demonstrate a sense of urgency and ownership to bring issues to completion. This role may also manage a channel team, acting as an Agile/Scrum expert, ensuring that the team is utilizing Agile methodologies, processes and tools.
Responsibilities:


• Lead project and iteration planning while proactively managing scope, risk, quality, and resource allocation.
• Work with cross-functional teams including Development, Architecture, Data Services, QA, and other groups to ensure project task accuracy, risk mitigation and resolution of issues and constraints.
• Communicate planning and schedule status, issues and risks in a timely manner.
• Identify, document and resolve problems, issues, and project changes.
• Coordinate change management activities, ensuring that any schedule, cost, or scope variance is communicated appropriately.
• Escalate unresolved issues requiring senior management attention.
• Monitor resource allocations and communicate capacity and schedules for project work.
• Identify interdependencies between project teams, eliminating any issues that may arise.
• Coordinate deployment and delivery of project deliverables.
• Maintain internal project tracking systems.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
• Highly developed organizational and communication skills, including very strong presentation skills
• Strong MS Office knowledge and experience, including MS Project
• Sound understanding of fundamentals of internet and technology spaces
• Experience with different software development methodologies to manage, build and adapt Agile processes as a template for repeatable program and project execution
• Strong relationship and leadership abilities
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, business or a related field and 8-12 years of related experience
• 3-5 years of software development / technology project management in an Agile environment
• PMP and CSM certification a plus

Responsibilities:

Provide project management and iteration management support to teams that utilize an iterative, predictable, and repeatable delivery schedule. Projects are medium to large in scope. Work results impact x-functional areas in technology and often touch across other operational, product or support departments. Erroneous action may result in delay of product release.

Required Skills:

Besides what is covered under the Role Description, this position may also be the Scrum Master for one or more teams that are at varying flavors of Agile and sprint cycles. This
position will also need to interface strongly with other Project Managers of other teams as they together work through dependencies, risks, changes, etc as well as Resource
Managers, Business System Analysts, DevOps, Product Managers, and the Team Engineers (Development and QA).
