Business Analyst

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Business Analyst for a contract assignment with one of our premier financial clients in Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities:
Represent the voice of the Fixed Income business and provide Fixed Income subject matter expertise in the required business domains to the IT delivery teams - Portfolio Management, Trading, Fixed Income Analytics/Data and Credit Research
Define scope, high level requirements and conditions of acceptance of new system features
Facilitate analysis and understanding of requirements between the Fixed Income business and IT delivery teams.
Re-design and optimize business processes
Assist the creation and management of product roadmaps, risks and issues
Work with the London based Fixed Income Program Manager and IT Scrum Master to manage and prioritize the product backlog for agile software development teams. Note: this includes writing and reviewing user stories, including the writing of acceptance criteria
Work with Product Management and Scrum Master to set release plans and prioritize product feature scope. This also includes preparation of the business case sections for the software review milestone gates.
Work directly with IT developers to make ensure the software meets the product requirements and business requirements
Represent the team in facilitating backlog reviews and scope estimation with the IT team
Hands on data analysis and performing acceptance testing and sign-off of deliverables
Ensure business risks and issues are managed and resolved
Promote awareness of change and act as primary trainer for Portfolio Managers in your location

Required Skills:
Must have significant fixed income experience gained working as a business analyst within asset management firms
Strong Fixed Income business/data acumen and analytical capabilities
Must be credible in front of portfolio managers, and comfortable liaising directly with them
Proven leadership ability, ability to collaborate and influence peers, proven organizational skills
Excellent communication skills for cross group collaboration, be able to Client solutions to problems and objectively defend them, and propose design alternatives and articulate pros and cons.
Coaching / Mentoring - sharing knowledge in an open manner to make those around them better
Ability to interface with senior leadership with confidence and clarity
Collaboration - developing trust and positive relationships
Analytical and questioning mind. Be able to challenge the status quo on a large scale and suggest viable alternative approaches.
High energy, results driven person with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with global teams, including time-zone
Must be a self-starter with ability to build working relationships and ability to work effectively in a global complex matrixed organization.
Strong analytical and product management skills, including a thorough understanding of the software business, ability to understand market needs and translate into requirements
Strong attention to detail and ability to understand the 'big picture'
Significant Fixed Income knowledge and experience within Asset Management
Experience with Fixed Income applications and/or trade order management systems
Considered a SME in one or more of the following: Portfolio Management, Trading, Fixed Income Analytics/Data, Risk, Credit Research
Flexible and comfortable with uncertainty in requirements etc. in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
A four year Bachelor's Degree or the international equivalent in Business, Finance or preferred or commensurate relevant work experience.
